people are going to need a sweater, a jacket. some places in the 40s. meteorologist tom kierein, is that right? >> it is. many areas in the 40s. that's more like late october than mid-september. and here we go again. another fresh and cool morning undeway as we take a look right now at the temperatures right around the beltway. it's only around 50. and right in washington, it's in the mid and upper 50s. reagan national now at 59. and then a little farther out, outside the beltway, much of prince george's county now just in the upper 40s and low 50s. same thing with montgomery and fairfax and farther west around the shenandoah valley and much of northern virginia into the mountains, all these areas in blue are in the 40s. and on the eastern shore, too, away from the waters, a few locations there in the 40s this morning. and we're going to have another gorgeous day, but this chilly morning will be with us here for another few hours. by noontime, the low 70s. low humidity the rest of the afternoon. bright, sparkling sun and a sapphire blue sky. highs reaching upper 70s by midaftern

for a while before more clouds and showers return later this afternoon. lunch time temps in the mid- 70s. could be a stray shower then but late afternoon, evening is when i think we'll have a few more showers and storm. high around 80. 5:00 temp . lots of moisture from us all the way up into new england now with all the showers and storms from last night. had a lot of lightning, a lot of thunder. so a little bit of lightning coming out of these storms as you're pulling out of montgomery now into howard county. eastern montgomery county seeing it much more so than areas to the west. we've got 95, 29, a rough ride up from columbia down toward d.c. even in town now, look at laurel here, the darker reds in northwest d.c. coming out of arlington about to cross the capital area. we're also looking in northern charles county with some showers and rumbles of thunder there. this will be out another couple of hours but the rain is causing all sorts of issues on the roads. here's beverly farmer with more. >>> right now, howard, what we've been dealing with since after midnight, the crash on the inn
